Our Mission.
The purpose of the Conroe Symphony League is to serve as a non-profit, volunteer organization to support and promote the growth of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra, through fund raising and other activities, that will assist the Symphony in its dedication to add to the cultural and educational enrichment of the community.

 Building a League The Conroe Symphony League was founded in April of 2001. At that time the Conroe Symphony Orchestra was five years old with the players and organizers, Mary Curtis Taylor, Mark Multop and Herb Armentrout taking care of the organizational requirements of running an orchestra. When an ad was placed for someone to act as Executive Director of the Orchestra, Dr. Aline Arnold answered the advertisement knowing it would be a volunteer position. Soon after taking this position she formed an Orchestra Board and contacted Annette Spikes about organizing a League for the purpose of being the volunteer/fundraising arm of CSO. Annette served as President for the first three years. Other founding board members were: Clemencia Watson, Patsy McLemore, Pat Bourgeois, Charlotte Heathcott, Barbara Hilton, Jaymie Pedigo, Alicia Swindle, Karen Mauermann, Benny Pitzer, Kim Caywood, Tammy Millington, Cliff Miller, Mary Curtis Taylor and Aline Arnold. Since the first meeting in April of 2001, the League has grown to 145 members. As of 2007, through fundraising efforts, the League has raised $80,000 for the Conroe Symphony and has provided many volunteer hours. The Symphony League is a member of the Texas Association for Symphony Orchestras. In 2004, The Conroe Symphony League won best fundraiser, The Celebrity Conductor Contest, at the annual TASO conference. |
